Description
The Bullmastiff is a very large and powerful dog, but not cumbersome, with a broad wrinkled head and fairly short, square, dark muzzle.


Size
Males are 25 to 27 inches at the withers, and 110 to 130 pounds weight. Females are 24 to 26 inches at the withers, and 100 to 120 pounds weight.


Coat
Bullmastiffs have a short easy-care coat.


Color
The coat of a Bullmastiff can be any of the following colors; fawn, fawn brindle, red, red brindle, red fawn, and red fawn brindle.


Temperament
Bullmastiffs are very easygoing, loyal, and affectionate. They can also be very protective of their owner if they sense danger. They have a good-natured temperament, though he tends to be willful.


Care
Their short-haired, slightly rough coat is easy to groom. Comb and brush with a firm brush, and shampoo only when necessary. They need some exercise as they can gain weight and can become lazy.


Exercise
Bullmastiffs need enough exercise to keep them lean and healthy, but not so much that their soft bones, joints, and ligaments become over-stressed and damaged.


Shedding
There is little shedding with this breed.


Life Expectancy
A well cared for Bullmastiff can live 8 to 10 years.


Health
Beware of hip dysplasia, tumors, and some eyelid problems. They are Prone to cancer.
